i keep emphasizing how my current and recent-past lifestyles dont accord with the concept of 'settling down' or 'nesting'.
this has been the case for years.
in the last seven years ive had 11 different mailing addresses.
save for maybe last year of undergrad, my living spaces have been minimal, at best.
the worst was halifax, when i VJ'd for two months summer after high school.
my friend had an extra mattress and boxspring.
i threw those in the corner.
had a computer chair as a laundry hanger/basket.
had a night table.
didnt even bother unpacking my suitcase.
closet was empty. yep.
in the uk i was in the grad dorms.
korea--my 'flat' was a poor excuse for a 'room' with an ajoined bathroom.
(if you are my fb friend--pls refer to my earliest korea photos)
(yes--still sticking to the words-only format...!)
now--have a flatmate, but our place is cute.
and now that ive 'settled' somewhere 'indefinitely'--realised on the weekend that i should just attempt to nest.
even minimally.
so i colour-coordinated shit.
neutral creams, browns.
square stuff. carpet.
little baskets to put my lotions, etc.
dunno what compelled me, really.
not just one thing, though.
realised that if i keep saying--im too nomadic. move around too much to waste resources on something that won't last.
and so if not now--will keep putting it off.
also realised this mindset is the antithesis of everything for which i stand.
hence i went out and bought stuff, revamped.
i like it a lot more.
what a difference it makes. heh.
but shhh--dont tell my homemaker friends. ;)
