the journalism matters more.

this wk at work has been horrid.
just always on the go.
last night--walked in at 3pm for work.
was told i was doing a live remote hit at 6pm about high collision intersections in the city.
huge long rant.
my shooter actually drove with me to the shoot bc right after--we rushed over downtown to a civic works committee meeting on the use of fluoride in our drinking water.
oh my.
45 ppl slated to speak.
took more than six hours to wrap up. that means 1am!
incredible.
we left at almost 930.
huge rush to cut and voice and then do another live for 11pm.
whew.
although at the end of the day--couldnt be happier.

talked with a friend about our physical image for our job.
i know it's a very visual medium.
thus--we have to look presentable.
dont doubt that at all.
but i really dont think im awful.
yes--some days im scatter-brained, and forget my scarf is flying about for a standup.
and bc i dont put product in my hair the wind gets the better of it.
wont ever apologise bc for me--yes, it's television--but we're not entertainment.
the journalism matters more.
and if i dont have time to put on my makeup mask, so be it.
at the end of the day--i know i should be dressing for the job i want, not the job i have.
blah blah. all that motivational stuff.
but it's the story.
journalism is not reporting.
the two arent interchangeable.
reporting can be entertainment.
talking heads on tv. sure.
journalism is a whole different beast.
and for me--that matters more.
and considering ive just started a fashion blog...think it's safe to say im doin' all right in the aesthetics department.
even if i do refuse to put makeup on unless im doing studio hits.
or i dont spent hours sitting in front of lightbulbs and a mirror.
i dont know.
it's a fine balance.
one im still exploring.

im a tired bear, babies.
pls--a hug would be nice.
